[Expo] The annual Renewable Energy Roundup & Sustainable Living Expo is this weekend – Sept. 26-28Belton, TX.

[Networking] Thursday, September 25th from 6pm to 8pm, the Environmental Defense Fund, CleanTX, and Pecan Street Inc., will be hosting a networking event at the Thinkerycalled, "A Clean Energy Future is Possible NOW." A short video from the EDF, highlighting what the smart grid is doing for American energy, will be screened and hors d’oeuvres and an open bar will be provided by Google. More info>>

 

A public hearing on Uber and Lyft will be held tonight at the Travis County Commissioners Court.[Transportation] City Council is hosting a public hearing tonight at 7pmon council member Chris Riley's proposal to legalize Uber, Lyft, and other transportation networking companies. Last week Riley announced his plans to legalize Uber and Lyft in the short-term while a more permanent solution comes out of a council-approved stakeholder process. And since City Hall is still be renovated, the hearing will be held at the Travis County Commissioners Court at 700 Lavaca St.

The Austin Alternative School Fair will be held on Saturday morning at the Thinkery.

[School Fair] Saturday, September 27th from10am to 1pm is the Austin Alternative School Fair at the Thinkery's outside courtyard. This free, fun, and family-friendly event is an opportunity to learn more about Austin's most innovative and effective learning environments and programs. Participating schools include Austin EcoSchool, Earth Native Wilderness School, Growin' Together After-school Enrichment, Inside Outside School, and many more. Joep Meijer will be speaking about climate change at the First Unitarian Universalist Church on Sunday.[Climate presentation]Sunday, September 28thfrom noon to 1pm the First Unitarian Universalist Church Green Sanctuary Committee is hosting an event entitled, "How Austin Will Solve Climate Change by 2050." A talk will be given by Joep Meijer, co-founder of Climate Buddies, who will explain the many ways climate change is already affecting Texas and explore what Austin is doing to turn the tide. A backpacking orientation will be held on Sunday at REI.[Orientation] Sunday, September 28th from 3pm to 5pm is a 

backpacking club orientation for Camp Fire Central Texas, a nonprofit organization that works to connect kids with nature. The orientation will be held at the REI Austin Outdoor Classroom and will allow children in the 6th grade and up to get involved in the Camp Fire program. Topics covered will include backpacking technique and gear, upcoming Camp Fire trips, and how to get more involved in the program. More info>>

The mayoral forum on issues related to Austin Energy will be held on Monday night.

[Energy Forum] Monday, September 29th from 6pm to 9pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church is the mayoral forum on issues related to Austin Energy. Candidates will be asked to respond to a series of questions on everything from the future of coal to the governance of the utility. The Sustainable Food Center is hosting a Kitchen Fundamentals class on Tuesday.[Cooking Class] Tuesday, September 30th from6:30pm to 8:30pm theSustainable Food Center is hosting a Kitchen Fundamentals class oncooking with whole grains, beans, and legumes. A Sierra Club campaign kickoff event will be held this Tuesday at Scholz Garten.[Campaign Kickoff]Tuesday, September 30that 7pm, the Sierra Club is hosting its Clean Power Plan Campaign Kickoff atScholz Garten.
