Environmental Justice in Texas – Short Films and Happy Hour

From the Sierra Club’s Austin Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ) –
The environmental justice movement in Texas is vibrant and growing. From supporting the Dakota Access Pipeline fight and Native-led resistance to coal mining on sacred burial sites along the Texas-Mexico border, to arts-led outreach in urban communities of South Dallas and fighting gentrification & illegal dumping in East Austin, #TxWaterProtectors are organizing for justice in new and exciting ways.
Come learn about the work, have a bite/drink, and watch some short films to help you get plugged into ATXEJ.
On November 15th, join us to learn more about our on-going work with the Trans-Pecos pipeline in West Texas and solidarity with the #NoDAPL fight, the fight against two of the worst coal polluters in the country (based right here in Texas), and our partnership with Native & border communities united against the Dos Republicas coal mine.
We will screen a series of short films from V&M Productions, as well as a brand new short film from Matt Gossage. There will be tables set up and opportunities to discuss and plug in with the filmmakers, and local activists.

ABOUT:
The work of Sierra Club and ATXEJ focuses on battling public health issues related to fossil fuels and expanding access to renewable energy. Examples include the clean up of Red Bluff in East Austin, demonstrations against dirty energy like the Dos Republicas Coal Mine in Eagle Pass and Energy Transfer Partners’ Dakota Access Pipeline, and community power forums on high utility bills & air pollution.
