Program:  Colorado River Alliance with Brent Lyles

The Colorado River Alliance champions the long-term vitality of the Texas Colorado River. With education and engagement programs that touch 13,000 students and community members annually, the Colorado River Alliance supports the people, ecosystems, communities, and businesses that depend on this irreplaceable natural resource.

R. Brent Lyles is the Executive Director of the Colorado River Alliance. With over 25 years of experience in science and environmental education, Lyles is a frequent public speaker on issues affecting water and our river. In 1990, Lyles was a member of Teach For America’s Charter Corps, teaching middle-school math and science in rural North Carolina. Since that time, he has written science textbooks, designed teacher trainings, managed programs and exhibits at a science museum, and raised money for imperiled bats. He has also served as Executive Director of three nonprofits in Austin, Texas, most recently helping Austin Youth River Watch double in size and earn national recognition for its innovative combination of environmental education and youth development. Lyles has Masters degrees in Human Evolution and Nonprofit Management. Pre-Meeting Postcard Writing Session:  Our Conservation folks often have a table for distributing info, signing petitions, and writing postcards to our government leaders between 6:30 and 7pm.  Please come early to take action!

Consider biking, carpooling, or taking Cap Metro to the meeting. Free parking is available after 6pm on San Jacinto and nearby streets.
