From Earth Day Austin –

The event is for anyone operating a local business or involved in the policy or the business of recycling and composting. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Panelists will include Stacy Guidry, president of Zero Waste Strategies, and Dustin Fedako, founder and CEO of Compost Pedallers. You can RSVP at rsvp@earthdayaustin.com.

The discussion will focus on upcoming implementations on the Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO). October 2016 marks a milestone in the roll-out of Austin’s Universal Recycling Ordinance as we embark on having all businesses recycling by October of 2017. October 2016 starts with the introduction of organics diversion for businesses greater than 15,000 sq. ft.

  • What does this actually mean for businesses?
  • How is the roll-out going so far?
  • What is included in the organics diversion requirement?
  • Is Austin prepared to provide the necessary infrastructure?
  • What can we all do to support the process?

We will address these questions as well as the common implementation challenges businesses are facing, and what resources they can rely on for support.
