It’s Climate Justice Week in Austin

People's Climate March

This Saturday, thousands of people will gather together to host climate marches in cities all over the world… including Austin.

“We are one earth, one people, one community,” says the Austin People’s Climate March Facebook page. “We demand: slashed greenhouse gases, a clean energy economy, and climate justice. People of central Texas will unite to stand up for our communities and climate.”

The Austin People’s Climate March is on Saturday, April 29th from 1pm to 3:30pm. The march will start at the south steps of the Texas State Capitol building and will head to the University of Texas campus and back. The march will be followed by a rally at the Capitol with speakers and music at 2:30pm. Everyone who wants to see government and business/community leaders take stronger action on climate change is welcome to participate. More info>>

To encourage action and facilitate education, the event organizers have dubbed the week leading up to the march as “Climate Justice Week.” Each day, from April 23rd to April 28th, there will be a workshop or panel discussion, all aimed at working toward, “an equitable transition to a carbon-free economy that is rooted in racial, economic, and social justice for all…”
