Advent calendars are always a fun holiday tradition, counting down the days until Christmas with little pieces of chocolate. But this year, why not try a bicycling advent calendar?
That’s the concept behind the Love To Ride Winter Wheelers Challenge, going on right now in Austin. Here’s how it works – Every day that you ride your bicycle between now and Christmas, you have the opportunity to log it on the Love to Ride Austin website. Each day, Love to Ride will be giving away free prizes for participants, including reflective riding jackets, bike lights, and light up helmets. Plus, the City of Austin will be giving away a special prize to any Austinite who logs at least five rides before Christmas. More info>>

Not familiar with Ride Report? Bicycle riders can download the app, which then passively recognizes that you’re riding a bike and tracks your route. At the end of the ride, the app asks you to vote on whether or not your route was stressful/dangerous. This data is then used by city staff to compile bike maps and direct investments into the most needed sections of the city. More info>>
