Calendar Highlights for the Week of August 7 to August 14, 2014

Barton Springs Fest is thisSaturday, August 9th from8am to 7pm
Held annually in celebration of Barton Springs and sustainable living, the fest features live music, free cold watermelon, and a whole lot more. If you haven't had a chance to see the new upgrades to the south shore, here are some great inducements:
  • 8:30am – 10:30am – Eco-Snorkel tours
  • 9:30am – 10:30am – Yoga at the Springs(under big tree outside back/South gate)
  • 10am – 2pm Kids Fun – kid-friendly activities will be held in the morning and will include balloon art, music by Mr. Habitat, and a Splash Exhibit.
  • 10am – 4pm Barton Springs University –Educational speakers and workshops on a variety of subjects, from Central Texas Eurycea salamanders to climate change.

[Information Series]Monday, August 11th from5:30pm to 9pm is the last of the Imagine One Austin information series and the topic of discussion will be health and human services. This two hour mini-class (6-8pm) and the optional expo (8-9pm) is free and will be held at the LCRA Dalchau Service Center on Montopolis Drive. More info>> 
 

Austin Energy will be at this month's FEAT meeting.[Meeting] Monday, August 11th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm the Faith and Energy Action Team (FEAT) will be holding its monthly meeting at theFirst Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin.Austin Energy staff will be there to explain the utility's energy efficiency rebates, loan, and incentive programs that are available to houses of worshipMore info>> 
 


Chicas Verdes will be held at Zocalo Cafe on Tuesday.[Lunch] On Tuesday, August 12th from 11:45am to 1pm, all eco-

minded ladies are invited to join Chicas Verdes for their monthly gathering. This month they be will networking, brainstorming, and socializing at Zocalo Cafe on West Lynn Street, so be sure not to miss it! More info>>
 


[Green Design] Tuesday, August 12th from 7pm to 9pm Austin Energy Green Building is hosting the final session of its Green By Design workshop, entitled, "Green Home Systems." Attendees will learn how to compare high efficiency lighting and appliances, as well as how to select proper venting, water heating, and plumbing systems. More info>>
 


The first meeting of the Austin Hydrophilics will be on Tuesday. [New group!] Tuesday, August 12th from 5:30pm to 8pm at the AGBG will be the first ever meeting of the Austin Hydrophilics. This meeting will be a chance for all you water-lovers to geek out on commodity markets, advanced filtration, aquifer protection, awesome swimming holes, and everything in between. More info>> 
 


The first ever women's CleanTx monthly meetup will be held on Thursday. [Another new group!]Thursday, August 14th

This new happy hour will be held each month to provide an opportunity for all of the talented women in Austin's energy, technology, and entrepreneurial sectors to get to know each other better.
