Cleaning up La Loma Trail

Cleaning up La Loma Trail

La Loma Hike - Pete

What's Inside...

The Red Bluff Vista in East Austin is a beautiful site, offering amazing views of the city. Unfortunately, the La Loma trail leading up to it is littered by an old dumping site, and has long been neglected and forgotten. A group of activists and local residents are trying to change that. The Sierra Club’s Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ) and the Springdale-Airport Neighborhood Association are leading an effort to get the city to clean up the site, as well as address other safety issues along the trail. Parts of the trail are actually used by children on their way to school and include unsafe water and rail crossings.

As part of that effort, local filmmakers V & M Productions have produced a short film about the many environmental problems in the area, which you can watch here>>
