Student Innovation Showcase

From the City of Austin Office of Sustainability and EcoRise –

Aquaponics, chicken coops, and zero waste, oh my! Come meet the next generation of innovators at the 4th Annual Student Innovation Showcase at Austin City Hall.

20 student teams from across Central Texas will present their innovative, Eco-Audit and Bright Green Future Grant funded projects in a science-fair style format. Prepare to be wowed by elementary, middle, and high school students who have developed a deep understanding of complex sustainability challenges ranging from waste management to transportation to sustainable food systems.

Through EcoRise’s Eco-Audit Grants and the City of Austin’s Bright Green Future Grant program, these students identified specific sustainability challenges on their campuses and designed innovative solutions to tackle them. A wide range of projects were submitted and funded from across Central Texas this year. Select teams will be at Austin City Hall on May 11th to showcase their inspiring work.

How do I get to City Hall? Carpooling, biking, and public transportation are strongly encouraged! The B-cycle bikeshare station is next to City Hall on Lavaca Street. Bike racks are available in front of building. You can find the best public transit route on CapMetro.org. Free parking is available in the City Hall Parking Garage (entrance on Guadalupe Street). Don’t forget to bring your parking ticket to the event to be validated.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP and share the event far and wide!

ps. Are you a parent or teacher? Student set-up begins at 4:30p.
