Art of Reuse: Sgraffito (Scratched Paint)
January 19 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm$20
Hosted by Austin Creative Reuse –
Sgraffito, “scratched paint technique” in Italian, is wonderful to learn if you like innovative, new ways to enjoy making art. Whether you are familiar with sgraffito, or you don’t even know where to begin in pronouncing it, you will have fun as you explore how to use it in your own special way. You will take home a finished piece of artwork along with knowledge of a technique you can use in any medium.
The artist uses abstracted styles of sgraffito, but yours will be what you decide to make of this new way of planning and producing a piece that will amaze you! Come with a completely open mind and if you look at the examples and don’t like them, remember – your ideas will surprise the rest of us, so come prepared to have nothing but fun! Bring a friend along!
About the artist: Sandie Huston spent much of her life in the lower Rio Grande Valley and Gulf Coast of South Texas where they received early training in oil, watercolor, photography and exhibit design. She has designed exhibits for the Art Museum of South Texas, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, The Corpus Christi Science Museum, and exhibited broadly across California. They also founded a custom furniture design business known as La Loba Design.
