Hosted by Public Citizen Texas and the Texas Civil Rights Project –

Our democracy works best when everyone can fully participate, no matter who they are or what their race or color is. When five U.S. Supreme Court justices gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act in the Shelby County v. Holder case six years ago, they made it easier for states and localities to restrict the voting rights of Black, Brown, Native, and Asian American people.
It’s time we fix this injustice. Please join us for a special vigil in Austin on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and urge Congress to restore the Voting Rights Advancement Act. This new bill pending in Congress would help prevent racial discrimination in voting so that we can build the truly representative 21st century democracy we deserve.
We have a roster of great speakers and hope to see you there!
