Culture and Food In Media

From the Sustainable Food Center and Issue Television –

Issue Television presents a screening of their new documentary film/TV Pilot EAT UP AUSTIN at the Sustainable Food Center, followed by a discussion on food and culture in media on June 22, 2018. (Small bites and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided)

ABOUT THE FILM
In the film, Jane Ko, Austin’s top food blogger hosts our journey from farm to table with innovative chefs, urban farms, and more across the city.
In this episode, we follow two ingredients in the city of Austin: goat’s milk and honey. We meet urban farmer Francesca Hernandez, the owner of Whirlaway Farm & Garden, then try pizza at Bufalina with fresh-made goat’s cheese sourced from the farm. Next we go to the Sustainable Food Centerand meet resident beekeeper Tara Chapman who also owns Two Hives Honey before finally cooling off with some honey brewed beverages, or craft mead, at Meridian Hive.

DISCUSSION
Following the screening we will discuss Food and Culture in Media today with guest speakers:
Jane Ko, blogger at” A Taste of Koko”.
Dawn Weston, Associate Publisher at Edible Austin.
Ronda Rutledge, Executive Director of Sustainable Food Center
& more TBA
