Front Porch Gathering: Climate Justice
January 21 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Hosted by the UT Center for Community Engagement –
The Center for Community Engagement is hosting a community-wide discussion on the impact of flooding in Austin’s vulnerable communities at a Front Porch Gathering event on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 6:30 p.m. at Perez Elementary School, 7500 S. Pleasant Valley Rd.
With such unpredictable weather patterns facing Central Texans, now more than ever we must resolve systemic inequities in infrastructure, resources and policies that maintain and worsen disadvantages in Austin, specifically communities in Southeast Austin.
The Center for Community Engagement, in partnership with Planet Texas 2050, and community-based organizations Dove Springs Proud and Go Austin/Vamos Austin (GAVA), invites you to a Front Porch Gathering to explore, challenge and collectively address the historic and ongoing effects of flooding and unequal climate precautions that negatively impact communities in Southeast Austin.
As a part of this special Front Porch Gathering, community members are invited to join GAVA for an information session around the Disaster Preparedness Navigator Training, organized to leverage technology tools and resources to support community members in anticipating, preparing for and responding to climate disaster.
The event is free and open to the public. Dinner will be provided.
