Homemade sauerkraut

From the Sustainable Food Center –

Fermentation is one of the oldest and easiest ways to preserve food. Naturally fermented foods have an added bonus: their live probiotic cultures are very good for you! In this class, SFC Farmers’ Market vendor Boulanger Fermentations will show you how to make homemade fermented sauerkraut. You will learn the stages of fermentation, troubleshooting common problems, and how to store your sauerkraut when it is ready.

A quart-size jar and an air-lock pickle cap are included in the price of this class, so you can take your newly started sauerkraut home with you and watch it ferment!

This is a hands-on class, so please dress appropriately for the kitchen (closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothes, hair tie for long hair, etc.).

We will sample sauerkraut, but it will not be a complete meal. Tickets can be purchased here.
