Happy Hour: Ecosystem Regeneration Artisans

Join us for happy hour and a presentation led by Shannon Brown, founder of Ecosystem Regeneration Artisans (ERA) Landscapes, which unites talented land stewards on projects that realize the vision of creating resilient ecological communities.

Shannon’s work ranges in scale from apartment make-overs with plants that remove air toxins to wildlife management plan implementation on large-acreage ranches. At all scales, her projects focus on earth care and people care. Her gardens use native plants to provide wildlife habitat for pollinators and birds, incorporate perennial food crops for human consumption, and also often involve mechanisms to harvest rainwater and sink it into the soil before it runs off, becomes polluted and contributes to flooding.

She is currently involved in the City of Austin’s revolutionary Rain Catcher Pilot Program, which tests a disperse model of flood control using cisterns and rain gardens to capture the runoff from individual roofs and driveways in the upper Waller Creek Watershed. Shannon is certified as a permaculture designer, holistic management practitioner and low impact development construction inspector. Drawing on these diverse land-stewardship teachings, Shannon designs resilient landscapes with an eye for protecting water quality and improving soil health while creating beautiful, water-wise garden oases that help our waterways keep flowing, and not flooding, for generations to come.
