Presentation:
We all remember how disturbingly low Highland Lakes receded during the last drought. Now imagine 100 years into the future with four times as many Austinites and a much warmer climate. What will our lakes look like then? Where will our water come from? To answer this question, the City of Austin and Austin Water, working with a council-appointed Task Force, are developing a 100-year water plan that considers our growth and the changing climate to identify what Austin needs to do over the next 100 years to meet our water needs. This presentation will discuss the planning process, what the future holds, and what we can do now to ensure we have the water resources we need for the future to meet the needs of our growing city and preserve our environment.
