From Austin Energy Green Building –

Current development practices and regulations maximize use of land for buildings and related infrastructure, often at the expense of wildlife. In recent years there has been renewed interest in fostering wildlife diversity in the urban and suburban setting. This seminar will review initiatives that range from backyard wildlife certifications in existing neighborhoods to development and construction practices that create or enhance habitats for a variety of wildlife.
