From the Sustainable Food Center –

Indian food is famous for its spice-filled flavors, but the variety of spices and techniques used in Indian cooking can be intimidating to the uninitiated. Guest instructor Akshaya Chinapa Reddy will guide you through the techniques that go into making delicious Indian curries by exploring curry made 3 ways: coconut-based curry, tomato-based curry, and a simple dhal (lentil curry). Ingredients can be interchanged for each curry, but this class will focus on seasonally available ingredients. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be presented. Tickets can be purchased here.

Akshaya is a Yoga teacher, a passionate home cook, and a loving mother to her two children. Born in India, Akshaya comes from a lineage of women who were known for their mouth-watering kitchen creations. Through her training at home and in culinary school, she brings authentic flavor, healthfulness and passion to the kitchen.

Akshaya’s cooking is often informed by her knowledge of Ayurveda. When she isn’t practicing Yoga or cooking, you can find her blogging while sipping a hot cup of chai. Read more about her at www.myayurvedickitchen.com.

This is a cooking demonstration class. We will sample what we make, but it might not be a complete meal.
