Sierra Club Monthly Climate Change Committee Meeting

The Austin Sierra Club Climate Change Committee will meet on April 1 at 6:30 pm at the Sierra Club Headquarters at 6406 N IH 35, Suite 1805, Austin, TX at the NW edge of the LINC off Middle Fiskville Road. You can also join us from your home via a Zoom link. Our speaker topic for April is:
Climate Change Across America and Is It Too Late?
Bruce Melton, author of over 500 articles summarizing peer review climate science, will present a broad view of climate impacts happening now –from the field– across North America. Topics covered will be floods, drought, fires, forest collapse, permafrost melt, desert impacts, and beach erosion from sea level rise. Following the presentation, there will be an open discussion of issues surrounding questions like: “Is it too late to do anything about it?”, “Why do we only have 12 years left?”, “How much warming is in the pipeline?”, “What is a dangerous climate change?”
At 7:15 pm, after the presentation, we will talk about our action teams and allow people to sign up to continue the work to stop climate change, an imperative if we want our current civilization to survive. We’ve formed action teams on Austin Energy, the Permian Pipeline, Rio Grande Valley Support, Carbon Fee & Dividend, People Power, Data Entry, and Presentations. We have identified additional action teams we’d like to form, including Transportation, Climate Justice, Partner Organizations, School Education, and Social Media. Whether you have only minutes a month or hours a day, join us to build a mass movement to stop climate change. Or join another group fighting this vital cause.
