Program: England’s Coast to Coast Path

Thousands of hikers from around the world have walked the spectacular Coast-to-Coast trail across northern England, following in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright, author of “A Coast To Coast Walk From St. Bees Head to Robin Hood’s Bay.” England has a National Trust that owns great swaths of land. The Trust leases this land to farmers and sheep ranchers. This form of public ownership makes it possible for tourists to hike across the country, staying in B&Bs along the way.

Tonight, Dennis Lanning will discuss the Coast to Coast walk he and Lyn completed (along with another couple) in July 2016, covering nearly 200 miles. He will share magnificent photos of English seaside villages, mountains, valleys, wheat fields, hedgehogs, sheep herds, bogs, heather, farmlands, and more of all that unfolded along the English trails.

Consider biking, carpooling, or taking Cap Metro to the meeting. Free parking is available after 6pm on San Jacinto and nearby streets.
