Position Description:  Habitat for Humanity of Texas Green Building Specialist

 

Habitat for Humanity of Texas is seeking an engaging, articulate professional to provide technical assistance, consulting, and certification services on a wide variety of sustainable and green building projects for 87 Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Texas.  The position will be integral in driving improvements and innovation to Habitat for Humanity affiliate construction programs throughout Texas.  The position is located in Austin Texas.

 

The candidate must:

  • Be a certified HERS rater and have expertise in energy-efficient construction products
    and techniques.  If not certified, agree to certification training.
  • Be qualified to provide green building consulting, technical assistance services and
    analysis to support sustainable design projects (some overnight travel may be required).

 

The successful candidate will also have experience in the following areas:

  • Assisting with design and construction teams regarding green building concepts and
    technologies, green building certification documentation, and design assistance.
  • Working knowledge in technical areas of green building and sustainable design topics, green building materials, site and landscape strategies, indoor environmental quality, water use planning, energy efficiency, and basic construction practices
  • Previous Habitat volunteer coordination (or other volunteer coordination) experience is preferred, but not required.

 

Duties will include:

  • Provide direct technical assistance and training, both one-on-one and in groups, in the areas of energy-efficient building science, sustainable building, and general construction.
  • Perform rating and certification for affiliates as a certified HERS rater as well as National Association of Home Builder’s Green Building Standards for those affiliates wanting green certifications.
  • Supply reporting as required by Habitat for Humanity International throughout the duration of the grant program.
  • Keep an accurate accounting of funding and return to Habitat for Humanity International quarterly financial reports accordingly.
  • Attend any mandatory training/learning opportunities.

 

Education Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or construction and training experience.

 

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
