Now Hiring Activists

Texas Campaign for the Environment (TCE) is a grassroots, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes public health and safety, governmental accountability and corporate responsibility. Our most recent work with Dell, Inc. and Apple Computers has pushed the electronics industry to embrace the concept of producer takeback and free, responsible recycling of obsolete products for consumers. We’ve also been fighting local landfill battles and pushing for zero waste with the help of Central Texans.

The backbone of our campaign and the reason we have eighteen years of victories is our canvassing operation. Each night TCE organizers get out on the streets of everyday communities and knock on doors. We meet housewives, conservatives, hippies, religious leaders, teachers, local officials, Boy Scout troop leaders, nonprofit workers, corporate employees, fast food workers, and pretty much any type of person you can think of. This type of front line work solidifies the fact that environmental issues affect all of us. We have the right to know about and a right to get involved on issues that fundamentally affect our quality of life and the lives of future generations.

We are hiring folks that are passionate and articulate. We have a 10-day training program to get you caught up to speed on the issues and teach you the techniques every good organizer needs to communicate effectively and inspire Texans to get involved in the democratic process. The pay is $375/week + bonuses. Hours are Mon.-Fri., 2-10 PM (part time is available). We offer full medical/dental, paid vacation, paid sick days, and paid holidays.

If you cannot stand idly by anymore and want to be more involved, please call 512-326-5655 or visit www.texasenvironment.org
