What's Inside...

They’re back. The purple martins have returned to roost in Austin before they continue on with their migration to South America. This year, they’re roosting at the parking lot of Texas Land & Cattle at the junction of I-35/290.

Every Friday and Saturday night at 8pm from July 7th to July 29th Travis Audubon will be celebrating the arrival of these amazing birds with free Purple Martin Parties outside of Texas Land & Cattle (but they ask that you park on Clayton Lane and not the restaurant parking lot). Anyone wishing to attend should bring a lawn chair and some excitement. You’ll be able to watch as thousands of purple martins swirl into their roosting site each evening.

Travis Audubon says that these parties are better than watching the Congress Avenue bats!

Plus, Texas Land & Cattle will be offering a free appetizer to anyone who eats dinner at the restaurant and mentions the purple martins. Habesha, the Ethiopian restaurant nearby, will be offering 1-2 free desserts for anyone who eats at the restaurant and mentions the birds. More info>>
