Like music? Beer? What about clean water?

On Saturday, October 5th you can enjoy all three at “Artists For Aquifers,” a live music showcase at AquaBrew in San Marcos. The event will be held from 4:30pm to midnight and will feature a tattoo raffle, live painting, and music from several local bands. (You can RSVP here.)

Tickets are $10. Proceeds will benefit the Wimberley Valley Watershed Association’s efforts to stop the Permian Highway Pipeline from being constructed through the environmentally-sensitive Edwards Aquifer. Concerns have been raised that if the pipeline is built, it could negatively impact beloved places like Jacobs Well, Barton Springs, and Blue Hole, as well as local drinking water supplies.

The event is being hosted by the Environmental Fund of Texas, a donor-advised fund that supports nonprofit organizations whose primary mission is preserving natural habitats, especially those that are critically threatened.

Work for a nonprofit? The Environmental Fund of Texas is currently offering matching grants on a case-by-case basis to promote the use of crowd sourcing campaigns (like the one in opposition to the Permian Highway Pipeline) as a means for nonprofits to increase community engagement while fundraising. You can learn more about how to apply for funding with the Environmental Fund of Texas here>>
