Mayor in Amsterdam

What's Inside...

As part of his continued focus on transportation, Mayor Adler recently finished an innovation exchange trip to Europe with the US Secretary of Transportation as part of the Smart City Challenge. (As a reminder, Austin is one of seven finalist for the challenge. If we win, Austin will receive $50 million to leverage technology in building out a better transportation system.)

Earlier this month, he wrote about his stop in Copenhagen. Now it’s Amsterdam. In a recent blog post, the mayor wrote that while in Amsterdam, he learned about two big things:

  • The importance of data and tech in developing a smarter transportation city
  • The benefits of widespread electric bicycle use, which could help Austinites weary of breaking a sweat on their way to the office
