[Tree Giveaway] Saturday, January 23rd from 9am to noon TreeFolks is hosting a fruit tree giveaway at the ACC Highland Campus. TreeFolks will be giving away 1,000 free peach, pear, plum, and persimmon trees on a first-come, first-served basis. All Austin Energy customers are eligible. More info>>

[Aquaponics Class] Saturday, January 23rd at noon Brite Ideas is hosting a free “Basics of Aquaponics” class at its store on South Congress Avenue. Students will learn how to grow plants simultaneously with fish, as well as how to make their aquaponics system thrive. More info>>

[Volunteer] Tuesday, January 26th from 6pm to 8:30pm Austin Creative Reuse is hosting a volunteer night at the newCreative Reuse Center in the Linc Shopping Center. Volunteers are needed to help prepare materials and crafting kits for the center. This could include cutting vinyl or fabric letters for banners, sewing examples from fabric scraps, cutting paper into strips or stars or putting buttons into bags. [Zero Waste Meeting] Tuesday, January 26th from 7pm to 9pm the Austin Zero Waste Alliance is hosting its first meeting of the new year at Recycled Reads on Burnet Road. [Happy Hour] Wednesday, January 27th from 5:30pm to 8pm Solar Austin is having its monthly happy hour at Scholz Garten. The topic of discussion with be Georgetown‘s recent decision to switch to 100 percent renewable energy. Guest speakers will include Georgetown Mayor Dale Ross, as well as representatives from Georgetown’s electric utility. More info>>
