[Volunteer] Friday, August 14th from 7:30am to 9am the Austin Parks Foundation is hosting a volunteer event at Great Hills Park. Help is needed to water, weed, and beautify the playscape at the park. More info>>
 


TreeFolks is hosting a volunteer tree mulching event on Saturday.[Volunteer] Saturday, August 15th from 8am to 11am TreeFolks is hosting a a TreeLC event at Southeast Metropolitan Park. Volunteers are needed to spread mulch around trees to help protect them against drought and heavy foot traffic. Volunteers should bring a water bottle and wear long pants, gloves, and closed-toe shoes. More info>>

 


Austin Resource Recovery is hosting a free composting class on Saturday.[Composting Class] Saturday, August 15th at 11am Austin Resource Recovery is hosting a free composting class at TreeHouse on South Lamar. The class will teach students how to reduce their waste by turning kitchen scraps and yard trimmings into compost. Everyone who completes the class will also be eligible for the City of Austin Home Composting Rebate of $75 toward a home composting system of their very own. More info>>

 


[Yoga] Sunday, August 16th from 9:30am to 10:15am the Austin Parks Foundation is hosting a free family yoga class at Wooldridge Square Park. The class will be taught by the Little Yoga House, a boutique children’s and family yoga school with a specific focus on healthy child development through yoga, music, dance, and art. More info>>

  


There will be a tour of the Resource Recovery Center on Tuesday.[Recycling Tour] Tuesday, August 18th from noon to 1:30pm the Austin Zero Waste Lifestyle Meetup is hosting a tour of the Resource Recovery Center on Todd Lane. The center accepts electronics, yard trimmings, and tires to ensure that they are properly disposed of and recycled when possible.


The purpose of the Zero Waste Lifestyle Meetup group is to unite the community to promote a zero waste lifestyle and push the effort in creating a cleaner, healthier city. More info>>
 

Austin Energy Green Building is hosting the final Green by Design class on Tuesday.[Design Workshop] Tuesday, August 18th from 7pm to 9pm Austin Energy Green Building is hosting the final class in its Green by Design Workshop series at the Norris Conference Center. This week's theme will be green home systems, and students will learn how to select the most efficient venting, water heating, and plumbing system for their homes.
