It can be hard to keep up with all the current fashion trends, but it doesn’t have to cost you a ton of money! My favorite hot trend this season is that STUDS ARE BACK! Exciting I know, and I have been drooling over this style for way to long. I looked in my closet and realized that it’s time I did something about my longing for glamorous studs!

In my closet I discovered that I actually had a lot of clothing elements that I haven’t worn in forever, that could use a new life. That old turquoise, cotton twill motorcycle jacket is just begging for some studs. What about those black leggings from last year? Seems like studs are popping up in unexpected ways everywhere, even on tights and dresses. Glam up those black leggings for some holiday twinkle and be the hit at that holiday party!

You can order studs of all sorts online just google it! You can get the classic pyramid style as well as, chain link, cone, circles, stars, and even colored studs! Online sites even sell kits to help you get on your way, but not necessary to get this glam look. I am about to tell you everything you will need to get busy.

If you are working with a woven or knitted fabric all you have to do is push the stud through the fabric and fold the prongs inward using a flat head screwdriver. If you are working with a leather or vinyl, you will need to use is an exacto with a number 11 blade and a cutting matt. Take the stud and press it into place where you want it positioned, to create an impression with the prongs. This is where you will make small prick-like cuts. Positioning the vinyl or leather piece on the cutting matt and using the tip of the blade to make the smallest cuts you can, your now ready to push your stud through and fold the prongs in back.
