Public Stakeholders Meeting on Plastic Bags
Mayor Leffingwell and Austin Resource Recovery Director Bob Gedert are hosting the third and final stakeholders meeting to get input on how we should craft our plastic bags ordinance. This public meeting comes after two smaller stakeholder meetings with environmentalists, zero waste advocates, retailers and bag manufacturers.
This meeting is open to the public and we are looking for input from Austin citizens who are interested in shaping the policy to phase out the use of plastic checkout bags in the city. We hope this will be a productive meeting where new and innovative ideas may emerge.
