Senior Energy Engineer

 

Summary:

Support commercial, institutional, and industrial energy efficiency programs on behalf of our utility clients. These programs deliver immediate electric demand reductions and create sustainable energy efficiency market transformation. Our energy engineers work on program teams to ensure that programs effectively meet our clients’ energy/demand reduction goals. Our senior energy engineers have responsibilities for the accuracy and integrity of group work products, as well as responsibility at times for managing staff.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

•Develop measurement and verification (M&V) plans, perform M&V activities, and review M&V data for energy savings quantification, including field work as needed

•Perform building energy modeling (eQuest, etc.)

•Analyze effectiveness of energy efficient building technologies, such as lighting and HVAC systems, using deemed and stipulated savings

•Develop technical documents for internal and external distribution

•Manage projects of varying sizes and scopes in an efficient and timely manner

•Train non-technical staff in energy efficient concepts and technologies

•Mentor junior engineers

•Lead periodic meetings and presentations

•Review design drawings to determine building energy use, provide design recommendations, and calculate energy savings

•Design program templates and calculators to assess energy use and potential energy savings

•Perform special projects and research new, emerging technologies related to energy efficiency

•Provide creative market transformation ideas, and/or innovative implementation strategies

•May require travel up to 30%

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.  Related experience in consulting engineering, energy services, and/or utility energy efficiency programs.  Extensive knowledge of energy-efficiency technologies, programs, and policies.  Expertise in energy use analysis and energy auditing.

•Certificates and Licenses:  no certifications required, but CEM preferred

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

•This job may include supervisory responsibilities for other staff.
